We Art is an online gallery of contemporary art and unique Russian icons. Targeting established collectors and seekers of rare religious antiques, the brand had to feel eclectic, lavish and private.
What art?
The pandemic made everything going online even worse, and the art scene suffered particularly badly. Many independent galleries were forced to either go digital or close shop. The founder of We Art came to us with the challenge of creating a brand identity for his physical gallery and bringing it into the digital space as an online shop. Our journey started with identifying a unique positioning:

The logo combines the Glagolitic (the oldest known Slavic alphabet used in ancient orthodox texts and icons) with a classic modern sans, exploring the inherent tension between the modern and the ancient. The colour palette brings together the rich burgundy of Russian icons (which were traditionally painted on wood) and the energizing fresh crimson, adding up to a real feast for the eyes.
